Explorers Range is located just off the Grose River in east New South Wales a distance of about 80km west-northwest from Sydney (show me). At about 786m above sea level, Explorers Range is one of the higher localities in New South Wales.

Explorers Range is located within the Blue Mountains National Park. There are 36 other localities within the Blue Mountains National Park: Apple Tree Flat, Battleship Tops, Bimlow Tablelands, Blue Labyrinth, Blue Labyrinth, Broken Rock Range, Bullnigang Heights, Caley Range, Cedar Valley, Dadder Cave, Duncans Flat, Erskine Range, Euroka Clearing, Gangerang Range, Hartley Vale, Hayes Crossing, Jamison Valley, Kedumba Crossing, Kedumba Valley, Kolonga Labyrinth, Lacys Tableland, Lawson Ridge, Mount Hay Range, Murphys Glen, Notts Ridge, Paling Flat, Paterson Range, Scotts Main Range, The Ironbarks, Tomat Heights, Tonalli Range, Tonalli Tableland, Valley Of The Swamps, Wild Dog Mountains, Woodford Range and Word Cave.
